Wednesday's Word - I Don't Deserve This
Morning All,
Sometimes it just seems like an interesting bit of “Bible Trivia” when look back and remember that Jerusalem was not the first place that God set up as the city where His people would worship Him. And we may even scratch our heads at things God does in certain passages of Scripture, like when the priests Nadab and Abihu, Aaron’s sons, were burned up in a rush of fire when they offered ‘strange fire’ to God (Lev 10:1). Sometimes when we consider God, we consider Him from the point of His promises or blessings and WE end up being the focus of the considering. Well consider this: What if there was no Heaven, no blessings, you only got what you worked for and you bared full responsibility for your sins; would God be less Glorious or any less worthy of praise?
We have to be really careful while recognizing Him as Our Loving Father, that we not see and treat Him as ‘common’. He doesn’t deserve that.
Here’s the Word:
Jeremiah 7: 12 But go ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I set my name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.
God laid Shiloh desolate, and tells Jerusalem to expect the same if they continue in that wicked way. We don’t often think ourselves wicked, because we have a list of ‘wicked things’ that we don’t do, thus keeping us on the “good” list. Not true. If it weren’t for Christ Jesus, we all know what our own righteousness looks like…right? (Isaiah 64:6)
Thank God for Christ who purchased something for us what we don’t deserve.
1Cor 2:9(b) … Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
In Him,
Cros
