Wednesday's Word - What's It ALL About

Hello All,
Alright, I’m gonna go ahead and cut to the chase; get down to brass tacks, you know, no more beating around the bush. Isn’t it interesting the number of idiomatic expressions we have to convey the idea of getting to the point? We ask for the bottom line and we’re constantly on a quest for a simple answer to the question “What’s it all about?” That question is a pretty good lead in to a deeper discussion; If we knew what it was “all” about, what difference would it make? Is the notion of having it “all” together a real pursuit to live differently? Or is it so we can feel as though we’ve crossed a finish line first, and now we can watch everyone else continue running? I’m sure we’re way deeper than that. Here are a few nuggets from the Word of God to help shed light on some of what it’s ALL about.

Here’s the Word;

Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life

Colossians 3:14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

2 Peter 1:5 – 8 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Deuteronomy 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Ephesians 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

1 Thessalonians 3:13 To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

1 Thessalonians 5:14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. 15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. 16 Rejoice evermore. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 19 Quench not the Spirit. 20 Despise not prophesyings. 21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

I’m not presumptuous to even begin to think that this is “the list” – I bet if you jumped into The Scriptures, you would also have a list of answers to the question; “What’s it all about?”

In Him,
