Can, Cup or Tube

Hello All,

Where are you? Of course I don’t mean geographically. And if you want to call me to talk about where you are emotionally, you know where to find me. But that’s not what I’m talking about either. I mean, where are you, spiritually. I’m not presumptuous enough to think I can speak for everybody but when I think the major categories of spiritual progression, I kinda see it like this;

Are you a Can? Some of us are cans. We know we feel different inside but we’re sensitive about it. And although we’ve confessed Christ, we’re protective of ourselves and our spirituality. We don’t want to be influenced and we don’t want to impose on anyone else. Nothing gets in and nothing gets out.

Here’s The Word;

Proverbs 3:27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

1 John 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

Are you a cup? Some of us are cups. We’ve come to grips with the risks that have to be taken in order to grow. And growing has become our drive. Get – get- get. Everything we can get is a “blessing”. And praise God from Whom ALL blessings flow. We haven’t embraced the full understanding and grace of giving yet, but at least we’re not a can right?

Here’s The Word;

Proverbs 15:27 He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live

1 Timothy 6:5 (speaking of the prideful) Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

Are you a tube? Some of us are tubes. We’ve grown to realize how to stay open up top to receive the blessings and well as open at the bottom to where the blessings are passed onto others. We seek to benefit others more than ourselves. Nothing that we can hold on to here is worth what we make room for there when we “let it go”

Here’s The Word;

Matthew 6:19-21 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water

Now don't get me wrong, I reckon a good discussion can yield good spiritual concepts associated with cans and cups so please keep this “word” in its proper context. And be encouraged to grow. Look and move forward from being a can or a cup to being a tube.

In Him,
Cros

Interesting thoughts as always, Cros! I like the analogy. I'll try to be a tube! I think materialism is one of the biggest temptations we Americans face. Somehow, we think we'll be happier, more secure, or something if we collect more stuff.
Thanks for the reminder to pass the blessings on.
