Wednesday’s Word - No Country for Old Men
Hello All,
Have you ever donated stuff to Goodwill or the Salvation Army? Why?
As good as it is to have a generous heart; usually what motivates us is not our generosity to the pleaded case of the poor and needy.Sometimes we simply realize that we just got too much old stuff lying around. Some of these ‘old’ things are easier to let go of than others because of some sort of sentimental attachment. A lesson of great benefit is when we learn how to hold on to the perishable things of this life with a loose grip: All of the clothes and shoes, knick knacks, trinkets and what not.
But what about our eternal Spirit-filled life? Is it clutter-free?There are many things that can clutter our path that really need to be done away with so we can move on to receive better things.
Here’s the Word:
Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Hebrews 11:16
But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
Can you imagine having a nice and shiny brand new house and furnishing it with all new stuff?
Now imagine the same brand new house furnished with all your old stuff. Exactly. God has prepared a new city, and it’s no country for ‘old’ men.
In Him,
Cros
