Wednesday's Word - Engaged to be Married
I thought about the engagement ring. That symbol of promise tha t illuminates the face and lifts women’s hearts to the stratosphere. For us Christians, The cross of Christ Himself, is our symbol of promise: The promise that our sins are forgiven. His resurrection and ascension, also afforded us promises; a promise of the Holy Spirit and a promise of His return for us. But these promises are just the beginning.
Here’s the Word
Luke 14: 27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. 28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
Christ gave us detailed instructions on what we should be engaged in doing: From spreading His message of Love to the world, as well as getting ourselves ready. Life is more than just making sure we don’t die and go to hell. We’re preparing for eternity as His Bride. We have to be careful to neither become too content nor too tired. We’re not engaged to simply live peaceably, waiting for our pie in the sky eternal state. We have a wedding day to prepare for…We’re engaged to be married.
Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and gi ve honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
