Jesus Is My Reason

The older my eyes, the more I realize
how fast this life is fleeting.
And the direction I choose, I surely can’t lose
Jesus is my reason.

I don’t deny science’s empirical “truth”
but to buy into their facts to completion,
would also take faith, yet still end in waste.
Jesus’ Truth is my reason.

I used to “go for mine”. Yes, time after time
I sought whatever was pleasing
Now, each choice I make, no matter the stakes
Centers on Jesus, my reason.

He’s not my co-pilot or right-hand man
I only want to go where He’s leading
I dare not think this some sort of “partnership”
Jesus is solely my reason.

People may judge, or even call me judgmental
I assure you, it’s not always easy
but most folk you know will just go with the flow
I can’t. Jesus is my reason.

Don’t take this as random, for I never abandon
My purpose to serve in my season
I’ll show you what’s right, and point you to Christ
Jesus is truly my reason.

I’m grateful for blessings and the good things in life
Still I realize that all of this is leaving
And only what’s done for Christ will last
Sold out to Jesus, my reason.

I am crucified with Him, now He lives in me
He’s all that I’m believing.
The life I now live is by faith in Him
He gave me Himself as The Reason.

Even when I selfishly forsake My Lord
and commit sinful acts of treason
Tho broken and bent, I turn and repent
He becomes even more, my reason.

1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

Jude 1:21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
