Ode to the Self Made Man

Hey there, I see you … Mr. High Stepper
Mr. Got it all together.
Mr. Sunshine in cloudy weather.
Doin’ it like no one could do it better.

You’re upward mobile, living the high life.
Living in the limelight.
Your next achievement clear in sight.
Opportunities abound and everything's alright.

And just how did you cop your spot?
Sitting on a whole lot more than a lot.
Keep on rising to the top.
Where did you get all the stuff YOU got?

You brag about your alma mater,
and amassing cash that flows like water,
and how somehow you were a little smarter
without ne’re mention of God The Father.

You say “Don’t blame me, cause I’m not lazy.
Opportunity is free; it’s the effort that pays me
Just focus your mind, success will come straightly”
Just do what I did, and you’ll get rich...maybe

You were the man with the master plan.
You made your move, you took a stand.
You grabbed your destiny into your hands.
We’re just dancin’ while you lead the band.

Your sign says “The buck stops here”.
You’re out to get it; you have no fear.
You’re top-notch, no one comes near.
Please sir, I beg of you, lend me an ear.

Here’s The Word:

Psalm 73:3-9 For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.4 For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.5 They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.6 Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.7 Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.8 They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.9 They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.

That story goes on and on my friend
The beginning of it is way better than the end.
All that “Stuff” blows away like dust in the wind
It’s temporary. Just like kids playing “pretend”.

You don’t know the way of humble appreciation
Your prosperity blinds you from True consideration
And unless you awaken to your need for salvation
The Word says your way ends in utter devastation

Where will you go with your self made plans?
A seed doesn’t grow apart from His Great Hands
Your knees to the floor, seeking His face and
Taking heed to the Woe of the self made man

Here’s The Word:

Psalm 100:3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

In Him,
Cros
