Be a Fan!
This will not be a long post. It just doesn’t need to be. I’m going to begin and end quickly with something that we all tend to notice on a day to day basis: As it’s still football season for a few more weeks, it’s appropriate to take advantage of the pervasive evidence: People preach about what they worship.
Here’s my point; I’m not a Dallas Cowboys fan, but I know more than a few of them. How do I know? I’ve heard them worship and “preach” belief in the Cowboy team doctrine – they show their support in the clothes they wear, the way they decorate their work area and vehicles, and if you want to avail yourself to hearing them get up on their soapbox and preach a sermon to you, you hardly ever have to ask. They’re more than willing to give you an earful.
Not everyone is a Cowboy fan. As a matter of fact, there are 31 other “beliefs” that might put you in direct conflict with a Cowboy’s fan – especially if you’re a Redskins fan. But why is it that we don’t deride NFL fans the way we do Christians who share The Gospel? Ahhh… that’s really not my point. Remember, this won’t be a long post.
Here’s The Word;
1 Corinthians 9:14
Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.
This is just an encouragement. Instead of trying to will yourself to tell more people about Christ, just choose to become more of a fan of His. Fall in love with Him all over again. Taste and see that the Lord IS good and worship Him for His goodness. Spend time going deeper in the richness of His word and walk in the Truth presented there. I think we’d have a tougher time remaining silent in the face of others if we worshiped Him more in spirit and in truth. People preach about what they worship.
In Him,
Cros
