Wednesday’s Word – The Gift That Keeps on Giving
Hello All,
Are you done with your Christmas shopping yet? Did you go “scavenger hunting” to find that special something for those special someone’s on your list? Or did you take advantage of our amazing information age and “point- and- click” your way to a Merry Christmas for your friends and family? Either way is fine, It really is the thought that counts (that’s what those of us who took the easy way out say) :)
What category does most of the gifts fall into? Arts & Crafts? Tools, toys & trinkets or do they fall under the dominant “techie” category? MP3 players, digital cameras, laptops and iPads, video games and what not.
Scripturally, we often see the usual presents at Christmas and they're perfectly wonderful as is with the whole of Scripture – The Gospel accounts of the Virgin Birth, The prophetic Jewels of the coming Messiah in the Old Testament. Well, here’s a lil something from pages visited less frequently but just as good in light of the “gift giving” aspect of Christmas.
Here’s the Word;
1 Chronicles 28:8-9(a) Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the congregation of the LORD, and in the audience of our God, keep and seek for all the commandments of the LORD your God: that ye may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance for your children after you for ever. 9 And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee;
You know, most of the gifts we give at Christmas – especially when it comes to technology will be so outdate just 5 years down the road, they’ll most likely be replaced. But living to honor Christ and teaching loved ones to do the same is the perfect way to secure a gift that will continue to provide benefits not only for a lifetime, but for lifetimes to come…talk about the gift that keeps on giving!
Jesus is the Reason for the Season,
Cros
