Wednesday's Word - Mass Confusion

Hello All,

Today’s message is not intended to be a scathing discourse on ills of Catholicism. But because the Pope is in DC at this very moment, and it seems that whole world is watching, I just wanted to focus some attention in that direction and help us to pray for and share truth with those caught up in this religion.
As a teaching point, I once handed out a two page test in a Sunday school lesson. One of the questions dealt with the Immaculate Conception. Several people didn’t know (or just didn’t remember) that this is a Catholic term by which Catholics believe that Mary was conceived and born without original sin giving her an exemption in light of Romans 3:23. This is why Catholics seem to deify Mary. Catholicism is also confused when it comes to justification.

Here’s the Word:
John 5:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

I once heard a wonderful explanation as to the differences between most religions and Christianity; it’s as simple as the difference between “Do” and “Done”. Catholics believe that in addition to God’s Grace, there’s still things that one must ‘Do’ to be (or stay) saved. For those of us who walk in Truth, we know that there’s nothing we can do to add to what’s already been ‘Done’.
Tomorrow, close to 50,000 people will attend Mass and the Eucharist with the pontiff at National Stadium. Catholics believe that the wafer and wine “substantially” become the body and blood of Christ though transubstantiation; another bit of mass confusion. Pray for them.

In Him,
Cros
