Putting Your Seconds First

As I sat racking my brain on how to tie in a reference to a movie I saw recently, with today’s word; it came to me…
PEOPLE DON’T LIKE BEING PREACHED TO
But that’s not true for ALL people. The movie I saw is called ‘Facing The Giants’ and if I had to give a rating like those news media columnists that people run to for answers; I’d give 3.5 out of 5 stars and a big thumbs up. This movie was not a big box office production like ‘Pirates of the Ocean’s Thirteen’ (lil humor). It’s low budget, amateur actors, and although noone preached to me particularly, it’s preachy. And if you chose to see it, you’ll know why I liked it.
Here’s the word:
Ephesians 5:16-17 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Our culture has an insatiable desire to be entertained. We’re not looking for what’s funny or exciting, we’re looking for what’s funniest and most exciting. And the other shows that command high ratings are the ones that put down contestants for not being funny or exciting enough. I can’t help but see this as a trick and a trap by satan using his trickery and lies. 2 Corinthians 2:11 tells us that satan has schemes and devices that he uses to take advantage of us but we who are in Christ are not supposed to fall for it. We’re supposed to reaching into dead men’s chests with the light of the gospel. Not simply sitting back, looking to be entertained.
Life is short Pray hard and work hard.
Will of God? 1 Thessalonians 5:16 (one of many answers).
Was I too preachy?

Hey Cros,
No you were not too preachy. I picked up facing the Giants about 6 months ago
not knowing it was a Christian production and when we watched it as a family we
actually got surprised to watch a movie with the plan of salvation as part of
the theme! We enjoyed and ended up passing it around for others to watch.
Hope all is well. Thanks for the message.
